Just a very short entry today since I am running out of time. I have to go to the party which I mention in today’s video blog. Today’s word is koukana – priceless (as in very expensive)
Today I have some good news. As explained in the below inserted movie, I have purchased a great game. Or rather two great games. And I even did it with with a ticket so it became even cheaper. I love my game store. They always have the games at the cheapest price imaginable. As I say in the movie, it cost 5200 at that first store, and I forgot to mention it, but at the other store it was 4900. Now 300 yen might not be much, but it is something, and it is always like that. That’s why I love GEO games stores.
My school has now also been going on for quite precisely two weeks and I am getting into the pace now again. The new book we are working with is far more difficult than the last ones, but I am managing pretty well I think. Shouldn’t take anything for granted just yet of course, but it feels good. I hope that the result in the coming week’s test will also prove to be as good.
In other news I have been to a very nice party with some Japanese people. It was a “speak English” group that had arranged it, and there were a lot of Japanese there with few foreigners, so you got to spend a lot of time with the Japanese persons. I am heading out for another one of these parties that is going to be a bit bigger in just a week. Last time we were about 11 people, with 3 people being foreigners. Now we will be 10 foreigners and 15 Japanese people, so that will be something to look forward to I think.

Today’s word is kitai suru – to anticipate
Yes. It is just like that. Like they say in all SciFi-movies, because it sounds cool. That’s why I use it too. But more because it is actually true. Today is the last day of the spring break, and tomorrow Monday I am going back to school. The last semester. The last three months. The beginning of the end.
To celebrate our ending holiday, Canadian Friend, Kostas, Enrique and I went to a cheap restaurant to eat steak and pizza. After that I even bought doughnuts at Mister Donut. After that it hit me. Despite the cheap prices in Japanese restaurants, I still spend about 1000 yen or more sometimes when going out. And I have no problem with it. In one month, we probably go out four or five times, and now during the break we even went out more. I must have spent at least 10,000 yen on food alone during these two weeks, which is appaling. Especially after considering this; every time I go to a store to look at DVD movies that I want, or perhaps games, I say to myself, Wow, that is expensive. 4000 yen for a game, or 900 for a movie. And I end up not buying them. But then I go out the next day blowing 1100 on a meal. What gives?
To remedy this situation, I have made a promise to myself. Instead of buying lunch for 500 yen four out of five days a week while in school, I’m going to economise and go home every lunch break and make something! Like a toast, or if I have time, pasta. Or yoghurt, and then when I get home from school I have another minor meal. That would most likely keep the cost down, so I can afford other things that I want to buy before leaving Japan. I have to begin thinking of that now, it’s the beginning of the end.

Today’s word is junbi – prepare
Ok, so I’ve done it. I’ve made my first video blog! And not about any mundane subject, but about the best thing that has happened to me in months! Namely; the purchase of a Wii! I haven’t updated the blog in a few days because I have been busy playing of course. My entry will be pretty short because of that. I have recorded three movies, one is before I bought the Wii, one is at the store, and one is after I have got home. Now, before I made these movies, I didn’t really think of putting them out on the internet which means there isn’t much that connects the three movies. I noticed when watching them I’m a bit repeative… but you’ll bare with me I’m sure. Now, onwards to the movies! Naturally the quality stinks because it is Youtube.

In other news, I am going to try to make an effort of recording my game of Zelda: a Link to the Past, which is one of the few Zelda games that I have never played actually. I have wanted to play it for ages, but never got far when downloading it on the PC. So now that I have it on the Wii, I am going to blog my progress, in an attempt to improve my video blogging skill of course! I will see if my camera will allow me to actually record something of the screen as well or not, we’ll see… I will name this effort; Project Zelda. Oh yes. Fancy. First, I just have to figure out how to film the screen in a decent way. I might have to buy some cable to connect the tv into the computer instead. I’ll keep you posted on that one.
